This group of investors is composed of Caisse des Dépôts, EDF, and ten major French insurers (Allianz France, Aviva France, AXA France, BNP Paribas Cardif, BPCE, CNP Assurances, Crédit Agricole Assurances, Macif, Maif and Société Générale Assurances).

As part of the extensive request for proposal process, Qontigo developed the Euro iSTOXX Ambition Climat PAB Index as a benchmark for a portion of the mandate. The Euro iSTOXX Ambition Climat PAB Index incorporates stringent carbon emission limitations in line with the overall long-term global warming target of the Paris Agreement. The index integrates the world’s leading climate data from data partner ISS ESG and applies screening for controversial activities.

Fannie Wurtz, Head of ETF, Indexing & Smart Beta at Amundi commented: “We are delighted to have partnered with Qontigo to deliver an innovative solution to meet the climate change objectives of our client. We believe that the European commission’s PAB labelling serves to underline the important role that index management will play in delivering the goals of the Paris Agreement, and we are happy to be leading the way in adopting it.”

“Qontigo and Amundi have worked together for years designing new indices that meet Amundi’s rigorous and evolving objectives for innovative investment products,” said Sebastian Ceria, Chief Executive Officer of Qontigo. “This collaborative relationship has now enabled Qontigo to create the Euro iSTOXX Ambition Climat PAB Index, with an index methodology that not only meets the requirements of the RFP process, but delivers a solution that is truly best-in-class. With growing numbers of asset owners and investors focusing on the challenges of climate change, Qontigo is proud to be at the forefront of innovation in climate indexing, and to be partnering with Amundi to deliver exciting products tailored to the demands of forward-looking investors.”

Made possible by the open architecture of STOXX indices, the Euro iSTOXX Ambition Climat PAB Index relies on ISS ESG as the world’s leading, independent source of climate data which includes the most complete set of carbon data and emissions scenarios. Carbon as well as science-based target data is used to overweight climate leaders and underweight the laggards.

“We are delighted that ISS ESG’s market-leading energy, extractives and climate data provide forward-looking insights via our climate analytics for one of the winning mandates in this ground-breaking Paris-Aligned investment program.” said Marija Kramer, Head of ISS ESG.

With its ESG ecosystem, Qontigo delivers a comprehensive range of indices that allows investors to target specific goals and levels of sustainable impact. ESG, Climate and Sustainability indices are widely used to benchmark portfolios and underlie popular investment vehicles, including exchange-traded funds, futures, options and structured products.
