STOXX^® USA 500 ESG-X

The STOXX Global ESG Social Leaders Diversification Select 30 EUR Index captures the performance of stocks with low correlation, low volatility and high dividends from the STOXX Global ESG Social Leaders Index.

The component selection process first excludes all stocks with the highest 12-month average correlation with all other stocks in the benchmark, then excludes stocks whose 3- or 12-month historical volatilities are the highest. Among the remaining stocks, the 30 stocks with the highest 12-month historical dividend yields are selected to be included in the index. The percentage of exclusion/inclusion at each step is the same.

Those constituents are weighted according to the inverse of their volatility, with a cap at 10%. The indices are reviewed quarterly.

The STOXX® USA ESG Select KPIs Indices offer a broad market exposure that is tilted towards companies that score better with respect to a small set of environmental, social, and governance KPIs.

Companies are selected and weighted by the following KPIs: CDP emission/energy reduction target, percentage of women on the board, percentage of independent directors, policy against child labor, golden parachute agreement. The index includes ESG exclusion screens for Global Standards Screening, Controversial Weapons, Small Arms, Military Contracting, Unconventional Oil & Gas, Thermal Coal, Tobacco, Private Prisons and ESG Controversies. KPI standardization by industry and country capping reduce unwanted systematic active exposures.

The EURO iSTOXX 50 ESG+ GR Decrement 3.75% Index replicates the performance of the total return version of the EURO STOXX 50 ESG+ Index assuming a constant 3.75% performance deduction per annum. The performance deduction accrues constantly on a daily basis (using an Actual/365 Fixed day count convention). Consequently due to the percentage of performance deduction the EURO iSTOXX 50 ESG+ GR Decrement 3.75% Index underperforms the EURO STOXX 50 ESG+ Index.

The objective of the EURO STOXX 50 ESG Target Index is to reflect the EURO STOXX 50 Index while maximizing its ESG score and at the same time reducing its carbon Intensity by at least 30% relative to the parent benchmark. The predicted tracking error is constraint with respect to its parent index. Companies that are non-compliant based on the ISS ESG’ Norms-based research assessment or are involved in controversial weapons are not eligible for selection. Additional exclusion filters are applied, screening companies for involvement in tobacco production and distribution, thermal coal extraction and power generation, small arms manufacturing, military contracting, unconventional oil and gas exploration and production, high ESG risk, and ESG controversies.

This index applies screens in alignment with the ESMA guidelines on funds’ names using ESG or sustainability-related terms, which include controversial weapons, Tobacco, Coal (>1%), Oil fuels (>10%), Gaseous fuels (>50%/ Power generation), UNGC principles / OECD guidelines.
