The market for sustainable fixed income products remains nascent. Only about 3% of assets under management in bond ETFs have a sustainable focus, according to ISS Sustainability, and a higher ratio is needed if the world is to meet global warming targets by 2050.
That gap represents both a challenge and an opportunity, and was a driver behind the introduction of the STOXX ICE Fixed Income Sustainability indices in 2025. They combine the expertise of STOXX and Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), leading data from ISS Sustainability and an optimizer from Axioma.
The index set complies with the Paris-Aligned Benchmark and EU Climate Transition Benchmark requirements, and aims to help fixed income investors attain sustainability goals amid ongoing regulation and low-carbon commitments.
