Summary
“Sell in May and go away” Deutsche Börse offers a strategy index that sends the DAX® on summer vacation for investors who want to know that their portfolio is safe for the summer. The stock exchange barometer allows these investors to take a summer break with their investments. This is intended to exclude the traditionally weaker performance of this period. However, as a break in May would be too early according to historical data, the index takes its vacation in August and September. In practical terms, this means that the index value is set on the last trading day in July and remains unchanged until the last trading day in September. From October, the index is calculated again based on the current composition of the DAX®. As with the DAX®, the DAXplus® Seasonal Strategy is weighted according to free float market capitalization. The stocks are reweighted on a quarterly basis, with the cap for individual stocks at 15 percent. Investors have simple and transparent access to a convincing long-term investment strategy that enables them to directly benefit from the seasonality of the German equity market.
